Is claiming your baptism null and void an exit plan?
by awakening ini have read some of you talking about baptism not being a legaly binding contract as, for most it was undertaken as a minor.
has anyone successfuly nulled their baptism and exited free of consequence?.

At one time they may have been able to claim that is was between you and God but now that they are baptizing you into an organization that story doesn't hold water.
Even if it were legally a legally binding contract (which it is not) it would be declared null and void because they misrepresented themselves to you to get you to accept them as God rep. They lied to you about their history. They lied about how and when they were selected by God. They did this to get you to sign up for package they claimed to be the truth but the whole thing was build on false prophecies and lies.

The real problem with Watchtower.
by Rattigan350 ina topic on here about 1975 prompted me to write about how, for me, that is and never was or will be an issue.. also, the 144,000 and 'two classes' with memorial partaking, and child abuse are not issues with this religion.
everyone has their unique teachings and personnel problems.. the real problem with this religion was highlighted in the 2008 yearbook.
it gave a story of a young woman who was from estonia who was on the equivalent of american idol for estonia.

Some of the things JWs are told to avoid being yet are dependent on for their health, entertainment and general funtions of daily life: Doctors, lawyers, denist, engineers, veterinarians, professional atheletes, professional musicians, actors.
Their way of thinking really is quite stupid when you thing about it.

What make this so funny is that it is pretty close to how they think in JW land.

Addressing The False Claim That Jehovah's Witnesses Do Not Think "Independently"

All you have to do is go to a Watchtower study to see independent thinking isn't allowed. At the WT study they ask you a question and you underline and repeat the answer they want to hear. Not exactly a free exchange of ideas.
I'm sure most of us can remember a new person, probably a study coming to the WT study and making a comment outside of the information given in the paragraph. They were gently informed that expressing your own ideas wasn't what the WT study was about.

Old Time Anointed?
by Bob_NC inwondering here and would like to get your thoughts.
how do the old-time anointed feel about the new light that they are no longer the fds and only the gb is the fds.
that's quite a change in concept, right?

I would imagine this change would come as a shock to them if any of them are still alive. The ones I knew were born around the turn of the last century so they are long gone by now.
They may have been planning this move for a while but were waiting for the originals (pre 1935) annointed to die off before executing their coup to take away their imaginary power.

How many of you followed the WTS direction on education years ago and have been screwed by it?
by Julia Orwell ini'm really interested in this question because i've heard for years that if you forgo further education and go pioneering, when you have a family down the track you will get a good job because jehovah will provide for you because you pioneered.
as long as i was a kool-aid drinker, even then, i thought, "how does pioneering pay your bills?
surely education should come first.

I left the witnesses many years ago so the JWs in my family don't tell me a whole lot of what is going on in their JW world and what I do hear is warped by their JW perspective. The following good example of that.
Years ago I heard that my wife's cousin's daughter had ran away from home. I believe she was 15 or 16 at the time. Of course at the time they were saying it was because she was evil. I didn't know the reason behind it till recently when we came in contact with each other through facebook. It turns out that what had happened was that she was offered a college scholarship but her parents would allow her to take advantage of it because the end was near and they wanted her to pioneer. She loved school and really wanted to further her education. She was so upset that they wouldn't let her take advantage of the offer that she ran away from home.
I'm hoping at some point she will join this forum and tell her story.

Distrust and paranoia among faders
by cedars inhi guys.
i'm interested in knowing whether any other faders out there ever find themselves feeling a little paranoid about establishing contact with other faders or former jws, just in case the unthinkable happens and things turn sour.. personally, i'm now fairly comfortable with the idea that i will be disfellowshipped or disassociated within the next year or so.
i see it as inevitable, and an essential transition in order to do what i want to do with my life.

Until you are ready to make a real commitment to getting out it is best to be cautious with who you share your information with because it all comes down very quickly once it gets in the hand of an active JW.
